28 February 2011

The best thing about the month of February is that it's only 28 days long.

27 February 2011

Four inches of the softest, lightest powder I've ever seen East of Utah fell overnight laying a clean white blanket over our little stretch of heaven.

And to the North the breeze carries the emissions from our friendly neighborhood power plant off to Michigan.

A snoggy (snow and fog) day in Sheboygan makes for a less than perfect view.

The large soft flakes make our house look as if it's in a snow globe.

A reminder to take a moment and breathe before the day consumes your life.

23 February 2011

Dark and dangerous waters don't give up what they take this time of year.

22 February 2011

It doesn't take long for the strong East wind to clear most of the beach.

21 February 2011

A blustery morning after 10 inches of new snow. Ever changing. Ever captivating. Ever inspiring.

20 February 2011

At 8:30 this morning, no snow, no ice. It will look very different tomorrow.

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
While my guitar gently weeps

16 February 2011

Little darling, I feel the ice is slowly melting.
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear.

13 February 2011

A desolate beach on a cold February morning. This little corner of the world is at peace.

12 February 2011

I took a long walk on the ice this morning to see the formations created by the lake. It's 22 degrees and the temperature is rising, so I wanted to capture them before the ice became unstable. Nature is an amazing sculptor.

11 February 2011

The last of the really cold days for a while. You can tell it's cold because the 34 degree water is releasing steam into the even colder air.

10 February 2011

At ten below zero you can hear the ice creak as the water moves slowly underneath it.

9 February 2011

It's been a long week here by the lake, and while we took all the pictures it isn't until now that we're getting to putting them online. Sorry for the delay. We hope they're worth the wait.

8 February 2011

Don't let the bright sunshine fool you, it's cold, very, very cold here today.

7 February 2011

Even with all the clouds the sun is shining in Packerland today.

5 February 2011

The wind sweeps the beach clean and lays most of the snow up against the side of the ramshackle beach cottage. Out on the ice it sculpts wonderfully organic shapes.

4 February 2011

The heavy storms and winds brought more ice in through the week. I'll trek further out on it over the weekend to try to get some dramatic shots of the formations like this...

1 February 2011

More ice, huge waves and 20 inches of snow on the way. Time to break out the snowshoes.
